Accessibility Statement
This statement explains what accessibility work has been done on the BeAccessible Employer Inclusion Readiness Gateway pilot page and what still needs to be tested.
What has been built into the page
- Semantic HTML structure with headings, sections, lists and labelled form fields.
- Skip-to-main-content link for keyboard users.
- Visible keyboard focus indicators.
- High contrast control.
- Reduced motion control.
- Text-size controls: decrease text, increase text and reset text.
- Read page aloud and stop reading controls using the browser speech feature.
- Accessible image alt text for the BeAccessible logo.
- Plain-language content and non-colour-only information.
- Responsive layout intended to work on desktop, tablet and mobile screens.
- Privacy and consent wording before form submission.
What has been checked so far
Keyboard access has been checked during development. This is especially important because the site has been reviewed using keyboard-based navigation and not only mouse-based interaction.
What has not yet been completed
- Blind user testing has not yet been done.
- Formal screen reader testing has not yet been completed.
- Full WCAG 2.2 conformance testing has not yet been completed.
- Testing with multiple browsers, devices and assistive technologies is still outstanding.
- Testing after each future form, content or deployment change is still required.
Current accessibility position
The page has been designed with WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 principles in mind and aims for strong accessibility where possible. It should not yet be described as fully WCAG-conformant until formal testing and user testing have been completed.
Feedback and testing
BeAccessible intends to continue testing and improving this pilot page. Feedback from disabled users, including blind users and assistive technology users, will be used to improve the next version.
